I listen to a number of Podcasts weekly to "stay up" with current events and thinking. One podcast I recently added was "Freakonomics Radio" with the same authors of the book talking about current issues. On their April 12 podcast "Faking It" one of the things they cover is how Barak Obama got away with not answering questions about Reverend Wright's outrageous sermons. They play clips from a couple of sources, one being the author of the book "Game Change" about the 2008 election.
It turns out the Obamas rarely if ever actually go to church. They rarely actually attended even in the Reverend Wright days. But they thought it would look bad and hurt their chance at election if they...gulp...told the truth. So they chose to lie.
Turns out that they feared a backlash from the people of America if they knew that this "man of God" Barak Obama was actually lying to them about his faith.
Pretty damn disgusting, but I guess that just makes me a naive conservative.
