How Ronald Reagan Restored Faith in America
This Sunday is the 100th birthday of the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan. He is known for many things, but especially for bringing a new sense of patriotism and hope for a better future for America. In the years following the Vietnam War and Watergate, and in the aftermath of several failed presidencies, Ronald Reagan came on the scene with a message of responsibility, strength, and a renewed commitment to American exceptionalism.
Of course, Reagan is most famous for being largely responsible for the collapse of the Soviet Union and for turning America’s stagnant economy back into a worldwide leader again.
I believe that one unintended consequence of the so-called Reagan Revolution was a strengthening of the faith structure of America in a general sense. So in a way, not only did Reagan restore faith in America, but he also helped to restore FAITH in America.
With this is mind, please go to Ed Rollins’ op-ed piece on his memories of Ronald Reagan and what it was like to work with him. I was deeply moved by his recollection of the wit and wisdom of a great American leader.
