Your Unique View Of The World #2 - A lens to see the world with

A lens to see the world with

A worldview can be seen most easily like a pair of glasses that we use to see the world with. So no matter what direction we look, we are affected by the worldview lenses we use. Which ever way you choose to look the glasses of your worldview help you to understand and contextualize your various experiences. Many, or rather most of us, are unaware of the power of this underlying aspect of our lives. We do not understand how our worldview makes us able or not able to understand others and their unique worldviews.

Did you have a choice in this matter? (cultural conditioning)

Having now identified the concept of a worldview, you are likely already seeing the particular aspects of your own view. But how much of this did you choose and how much of it was simply part of the air you breathe? Is it possible to pick and choose the aspects of a worldview, or are you stuck with the one you were born into. In the United States and the so-called West, there are a few dominant worldviews that hold sway over the culture. They are firmly ensconced on the throne of our world by constant repetition and education, as well as dominant stories and beliefs we tell ourselves and one another. Probably the most dominant worldviews in our culture are that of Secular Humanism, Postmodernism, and Judeo-Christian theism.
